Dr. MEYLIN LAM HERNANDEZ, M.D.
Dr. Lam Hernandez is a board certified Sleep Medicine Specialist. She graduated from her fellowship in sleep disorders at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL in 2018.
As a professional in the sleep field her main goal is to improve patients’ quality of sleep, by relieving the chronic impairments caused by sleep disorders. She is passionate about sleep disorders and how it can impact our quality of life and predisposes to a vast variety of complications in our body including cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, neurologic, mental conditions and chronic pain.
Dr. Lam Hernandez attended medical school at Facultad de Ciencias Médicas in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. She graduated with honors “Titulo de Oro”, which is equivalent to Summa Cum Laude. She had the opportunity to work as a family practice physician in underserved populations in Havana, Cuba and Camp-Perrin, Haiti. This is where she mastered her skills facing critical medical issues. As the principal doctor, she led an entire hospital in a remote community, and was exposed to a vast array of health issues. Her main focus was with pediatric and adults suffering from infectious diseases.
After immigrating to the United States in 2006 she began working tirelessly in the medical field, including medical offices, home health agencies and hospitals. She remained focused on her goal of recertifying her medical training in the United States. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at New York Medical College Hoboken University Medical Center in 2017. Being fascinated with how sleep is strongly connected with multiple medical problems, she pursued a fellowship in sleep medicine and was honored to be accepted at Mayo Clinic University, Jacksonville, where she successfully completed her sleep medicine training in 2018.
In 2018, Dr. Lam Hernandez, began working at Sleep Medicine Specialists of South Florida. Her multi-cultural experience has proven to be an asset to the practice.
